Santiago League Round 6: Cupes lose to CDP

Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Cupes (3-1) against top-ranked CDP on Tuesday night. CDP were defeated by CDP (3-0) 96-82. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Cupes. It was a key game for the top position in the league. CDP looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was naturalized Puerto Rican forward Jose Rodriguez (201-92, college: Texas Southern) who scored 24 points. Center Eloy Vargas (211-88, college: Kentucky, agency: Duran International) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Puerto Rican forward Emmanuel Andujar (198-93, college: Manhattan) who recorded a double-double by scoring 24 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. CDP have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Cupes at the other side dropped to the second place with one game lost. CDP's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Santiago to the arena Plaza.
Another exciting game was played in Santiago between fourth ranked CPN and one of their biggest challengers GUG where CPN (3-2) beat GUG (2-3) on the road 102-88. It was a good game for American forward Tony Mitchell (203-92, college: N.Texas, agency: BMS Sport Agency) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Victor Liz contributed with 22 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Guard Gelvis Solano (185-94, college: Merrimack, agency: BMS Sport Agency) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 assists and 4 steals for GUG. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. CPN moved-up to third place. Defending champion GUG dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

Another exciting game was played in Santiago between fourth ranked CPN and one of their biggest challengers GUG where CPN (3-2) beat GUG (2-3) on the road 102-88. CPN shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. It was a good game for American forward Tony Mitchell (203-92, college: N.Texas, agency: BMS Sport Agency) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Victor Liz (193-86, agency: BMS Sport Agency) contributed with 22 points and 5 rebounds for the winners.
